Anonymous asked: I found an interesting analog for the refutation of a common deist argument, "there must be a first cause." It was somewhere along the lines of the juxtaposition between location and time. Imagine venturing across the surface of the Earth and progressively getting closer to the south pole. Once there, I ask you "go further south," but at that point "south" has lost all its colloquial significance; thus, when looking back to the beginning of time, mentioning an epoch "before" might be somewhat misleading. What are your thoughts?
I agree with this. It really is a nonsensical statement to ask what happened before time whenever before is in itself a measurement of time.
So, if time formed at the point of the big bang then what could have possibly been going on ‘before’ the big bang? It’s something far beyond us and it’s fascinating.
